The Terrorist in My Life (Kindle Edition)

The Terrorist in My Life
The Terrorist in My Life (Kindle Edition)
By Richard Crasta

Review & Description

"Doctors are legalized drug pushers. The doctor's interests and the patient's interests are misaligned."--Deepak Chopra, M.D.

In this shocking personal and public interest story, the author of 12 books, one of which was praised by Kurt Vonnegut as very funny, exposes the secret terrorist in his life. The carelessness of doctors and the blind greed of drug companies results in millions of accidental and life-destroying addictions, says this former spouse-cum-patient of a New York psychiatrist.

Though an occasional Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston story may dominate news for a few days, all over the world, negligent doctors are quietly creating addicts out of patients; instead of healing you, a doctor may have enslaved you to a drug such as a Benzodiazepine, which can be surprisingly difficult to free yourself from.

And what if your doctor, who addicted you to a chemical without a conscience, was paid and bribed by drug companies to do it? What if she ignored warnings and did it lazily and with no care for your long-term well-being? What if he/she prescribed it without giving you all the necessary cautionary warnings, and if as a result you are hooked for life? What ethical questions does this raise?

Why are Benzodiazepine addictions so under-reported by the media and so low in the hierarchy of addictions?

This story combines a writer's personal story with the story of thousands of people worldwide who are in similar predicaments. A different and much shorter version of this book was briefly published earlier under the title "Benzo Land: How Doctors and Drug Companies Enslave Us.""Doctors are legalized drug pushers. The doctor's interests and the patient's interests are misaligned."--Deepak Chopra, M.D.

The Life and Death of Whitney Houston: Inside Her Final Days (Kindle Edition)

The Life and Death of Whitney Houston: Inside Her Final Days
The Life and Death of Whitney Houston: Inside Her Final Days (Kindle Edition)
By Michael Essany

Review & Description

"The Life and Death of Whitney Houston: Inside Her Final Days" is a compelling and unauthorized new look at the triumphant life and tragic death of Whitney Houston from national bestselling author and former E! Entertainment Television host Michael Essany.

Recapping the dramatic hours and events leading up to Houston's death on February 11, 2012, this insightful reflection concentrates on the iconic singer's final days of life, the reaction of her family and friends to the unexpected loss, and the latest insider details surrounding Whitney's attempted professional comeback and efforts at sobriety.

Share the special memories and words of remembrance from the likes of Clive Davis, Simon Cowell, Mariah Carey, Dolly Pardon, and other industry giants who regard the death of Whitney Houston as the greatest tragedy in music since Michael Jackson's untimely passing three years earlier at the age of 50.

CHAPTER EXCERPT:

Part 1: Inside Whitney's War

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston was found dead inside of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

As the global media scrambled to determine whether the pronouncement of Houston's death was legitimate or simply the latest Twitter death hoax, Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen spoke the words millions had dreaded hearing.

"I can confirm that Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel," Rosen informed the press. "We received a call at 3:43 p.m. from hotel security and Beverly Hills fire and police responded minutes later."

"Someone in her entourage found her unresponsive in her room," he continued. "It's unclear who notified hotel staff because she has quite an entourage here at the hotel. We attempted to resuscitate her, to no avail."

It was a sad and unexpected end to the legendary 48-year-old singer's life.

"Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah."

On August 9, 1963, Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born in Newark, New Jersey as the third and youngest child of Army serviceman and entertainment executive John Russell Houston, Jr. and gospel singer Cissy Houston.

From an early age, music was in Whitney's blood.

In addition to her mother's musical talent, Houston boasted of famous cousins Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick, and called Aretha Franklin her godmother.

Houston was all but eleven years of age when she embarked on a career in music, closely following in her family members' footsteps as she first performed as a soloist in the junior gospel choir at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.

Houston's first solo performance was "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah."

The song would be a fitting anthem for the life and legacy Whitney Houston would ultimately leave behind.
