Review & Description

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was a superstar of unprecedented and epic proportions, and is still the best-selling recording artist of all time.

An icon raised in the spotlight, but ever reclusive and terribly shy, Jackson was the ideal subject for paparazzo extraordinaire Ron Galella, the nation s most famous celebrity photojournalist. Galella shot Michael from his early days in the Jackson 5 right up to the weeks before his untimely death. Finding intimate moments with the legend offstage, he captured candid, beautiful, unguarded portraits of the man behind the mask and a lifetime of style and glamour.

Over the years Galella also captured Michael in the company of fellow celebrities drawn, like Galella himself, to the biggest and brightest star of them all including Muhammad Ali, Diana Ross, Chuck Berry, Brooke Shields, Jane Fonda, Liberace, Quincy Jones, Barry Manilow, Emmanuel Lewis, Liza Minnelli, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone, Ted Kennedy, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Donald Trump, Eddie Murphy, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, and Marcel Marceau. He was able to find the personal side of Michael in images of him with his children, his sister Janet and the rest of the Jackson family, and even his pet chimpanzee, Bubbles.

In a tribute to the life and memory of Michael Jackson, Galella has compiled his comprehensive body of images of the King of Pop for the first time ever in Man in the Mirror: Michael Jackson.

This deluxe, oversize, silver-adorned, photography book will be printed in a limited first run of 5,000 copies. Read more

Review & Description

The Bio History of Michael Joseph Jackson began when he was born on the 29th of August 1958 in Gary, Indiana. He was the 7th of nine children. Michael began his musical career at the age of 5 as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 who formed in 1964. In these early years the Jackson 5, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and lead singer Michael played local clubs and bars in Gary Indiana and moving further a field as there talents grew and they could compete in bigger competitions. From these early days Michael would be at the same clubs as big talented stars of there days, such as Jackie Wilson and would be learning from them even back then. Michael Jackson first entered a recording studio in November 1967, just three months after his ninth birthday. Two years later he and his older brothers scored their first hit, 'I Want You Back' and despite set-backs that would have ended the career of a lesser man, Michael's legion of fans remain as loyal today as they have ever been. Nearly 27 years after its release, "Thriller" still stands as the best-selling studio album in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, which has certified it 28-times platinum. As Jackson moonwalked his way into music history, "Thriller" set a new benchmark for blockbusters that changed how the music business promoted and marketed superstar releases. In March 2009, Michael announced a shock comeback tour at the O2 Arena in London to start in July 2009, initially for 10 dates but the total grew to a sold out 50 dates with over 750,000 tickets sold. Tickets sold out within minutes of being released. On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson died suddenly of a reported cardiac arrest. That shocked the world. The only question is whether he was one of the biggest stars in the history of music, or the biggest star in the history of music. He was incomparable, and is irreplaceable. Review & Description

"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." Michael was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie. Jackson's sudden death immediately evoked comparisons to that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977. Michael Joseph Jackson was born Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary. He was 4 years old when he began singing with his brothers - Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito - in the Jackson 5. After his early success with bubblegum soul, he struck out on his own, generating innovative, explosive, unstoppable music. The album "Thriller" alone mixed the dark, serpentine bass and drums and synthesizer approach of "Billie Jean," the grinding Eddie Van Halen guitar solo on "Beat It," and the hiccups and falsettos on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'." The peak may have come in 1983, when Motown celebrated its 25th anniversary with an all-star televised concert and Jackson moonwalked off with the show, joining his brothers for a medley of old hits and then leaving them behind with a pointing, crouching, high-kicking, splay-footed, crotch-grabbing run through "Billie Jean." The audience stood and roared. Jackson raised his fist. The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it! He's literally the king of pop.... This book gives a glimpse into the life of Michael Jackson like you've never seen before. Read first "Michael Jackson: Songs of his Life" now! Read more

Review & Description

Beat it michael jackson American superstar Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 29, 1958, and entertained audiences nearly his entire life. His father, Joe Jackson, had been a guitarist but was forced to give up his musical ambitions following his marriage to Katherine. Together they prodded their growing family's musical interests at home. By the early 1960s, the older boys Jackie, Tito and Jermaine had begun performing around the city; by 1964, Michael and Marlon had joined in. A musical prodigy, Michael's singing and dancing talents were amazingly mature, and he soon became the dominant voice and focus of The Jackson 5. In the 1990s, the downside as a 1980s pop phenomenon began to rear itself. Michael grew terribly child-like and introverted by his peerless celebrity. A rather timorous, androgynous figure to begin with, his physical appearance began to change drastically, and his behavior grew alarmingly bizarre, making him a consistent target for scandal-making, despite his numerous charitable acts. Two brief marriages -- one to Elvis Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley -- were forged and two children produced by his second wife during that time, but the purposes behind them appeared image-oriented. Despite it all, Michael Jackson's passion and artistry as a singer, dancer, writer and businessman are unparalleled, and it is these prodigious talents that will ultimately prevail over the extremely negative aspects of his seriously troubled adult life. For it all to end on June 25, 2009, with his sudden death at age 50 of a drug-induced cardiac arrest, just as he was coming out of a four-year reclusive period and rehearsing for a sold-out London concert "comeback" in July, seems uncommonly cruel and tragic. Millions upon millions of dedicated fans will remember where they were "the day Michael died". Grab this book now! Read more

Review & Description

Michael Joseph Jackson known as the "King of Pop", was an American musician and one of the most commercially successful and influential entertainers of all time. His highly publicized personal life made him a prominent figure in popular culture for over four decades. Even his death was as controversial as his entire life. On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson died suddenly of a reported cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old. There are still so many unanswered questions. How did Michael Jackson die, how long was he unconscious before 911 was called, and why did Conrad Murray, Michael's in-house cardiologist, later disappear? Jackson arrived for rehearsal at Staples Center around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, according to a magician who was there. The singer complained of laryngitis and did not rehearse until 9 p.m. "He looked great and had great energy," the magician added. The rehearsal went past midnight. Jackson's personal physician, cardiologist Conrad Murray, said through his attorney that he spent the night at Jackson's rented mansion at the singer's request. The next morning Jackson did not come out of his bedroom. Murray entered the room in the afternoon and found Jackson in bed and not breathing. There was a weak pulse and his body was still warm. Murray tried to revive Jackson for five to ten minutes, at which point he realized he needed to call for help... Only the election of President Barack Obama to the White House eclipsed the the death of the 'King of Pop' at the age of 50, research by Global Language Monitor (GLM) found. Even now there are more questions then answers regarding Michael's death. "Michael Jackson death: What Really Happened" includes the behind-the-scenes stories to many of the landmarks in Jackson's life. This book gives a glimpse into the events that lead to the death of Michael Jackson like you've never seen before...Read first hand accounts about his life and legacy! Read more

Review & Description

Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop", was one of the greatest dancers of all time, both in creativity and performance. His moves had mesmerized audiences around the globe, as well as inspired a generation of dancers. Through his dance steps he will continue to inspire generation after generation. Moonwalk was first shown to the world at the Motown 25th Anniversary in a performance of "Billie Jean". Although to the viewing world the performance was fantastic, Michael himself was not happy with it, being the perfectionist he was. Nevertheless the performance at Motown 25, especially the performance of "Billie Jean" which featured the Moonwalk, will always be remembered as a magic moment in the history of music entertainment. When Michael performed the Moonwalk for the first time at the Motown 25th Anniversary, he literally stole the show. It was after this performance that Fred Astair rang him and other great dancers saying how much they admired his talent. So much has how been said and written about the life and career of Michael Jackson that it has become almost impossible to disentangle the man from the myth. Jackson made a name for himself in the early '70s as the young front man of Motown's Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. The Jacksons had left Motown in 1975 and released three albums on Epic, the most recent of which, "Destiny," peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 in 1978. But Jackson became a bona fide superstar with his first solo album for Epic, "Off the Wall." Tragically this all came to an end. On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson died suddenly of a reported cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old. "Michael Jackson moonwalk: The Man And Legend" includes the behind-the-scenes story to many of the landmarks in Jackson's life. Michael Joseph Jackson known as the "King of Pop", was an American musician and one of the most commercially successful and influential entertainers of all time. His unique contributions to music and dance, along with a highly publicized personal life, made him a prominent figure in popular culture for over four decades. The one of the most famous possessions Michael ever had was "Neverland Ranch". While on the "Bad" tour, he closed the deal on a ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, which he soon renamed "Neverland". The ranch is an amusement park, a play land stocked with animals, toys, and things designed for children. It is a place where, despite being one of the richest and most powerful entertainers in the world, Jackson can act like a child. Some people believe this behavior is Jackson's way of experiencing the childhood he never had. Others have been baffled, and some disturbed, by Jackson's seeming to pretend to be a child and by his relationships with children. Tragically this all came to an end. On June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson died suddenly of a reported cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old. At the time of his death, Jackson still owned a stake in Neverland/Sycamore Valley, but it is unknown how large that stake was. Review & Description

Michael Jackson is a singer, songwriter, dancer and celebrity icon with a vast catalog of hit records and countless awards to his credit. Beyond that, he has transfixed the world like few entertainers before or since. As a solo performer, he has enjoyed a level of superstardom previously known only to Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra. Jackson became an instant star at age 11 as the cherubic front man in Motown's phenomenally successful family act, the Jackson 5. But that band of brothers, who kicked off their Motown tenure in 1969 with the unprecedented feat of four consecutive #1 singles, was just a prelude to the heights he would scale as a solo artist in the Eighties with the success of Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. Those three albums, and their accompanying videos, sent Jackson into a high celebrity orbit. He has been proclaimed "the biggest-selling artist of all time," "the single most awarded entertainer the world has ever known," "the most popular artist in the history of show business," and, not so modestly, "the world's most famous man" and of course, "The King of Pop." It was Thriller that broke all records, revitalizing and revolutionizing the music business. In 1985, Jackson helped to topple another sales record. As the coauthor of and performer on "We Are the World" - a benefit single for the USA for Africa charity. Jackson's every move was reported and analyzed by the media, and his quirks became headlines for a period of years. If you still want to read more about the life of Michael Jackson, The King of Pop, then "Michael Jackson Book: The Man and Legend" gives you that chance to have a glimpse of His life and time. Review By Katrina-Kasey Wheeler, Pop Media Examiner
Barry Gordy writes in the introduction for the newly re-released Michael Jackson memoir, ‘Moonwalk’: “Michael Jackson was not an artist who comes along once in a decade, a generation, or a lifetime. He was an artist who comes along only once, period. He was the consummate student. He studied the greats and became greater. He raised the bar and then BROKE the bar.” This quote captures exactly how Michael Jackson’s fans feel about him, while the world adjusts to his physical absence, his music will live on through his fans. Michael Jackson said: “Music has been my outlet, my gift to all of the lovers in this world. Through it, my music, I know I will live forever” and he was absolutely right. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” released by Wright Book Publishing is a beautiful materialization chronicling the life and achievements of the King of Pop – a wonderful way for the fans to remember him by. The tribute is a series of photographs from his album, film sets, concerts and much more. There are also artistic renderings and the lyrics from all of his albums. Also contained in the book are facts about MJ that are of interest to fans – trivia. The tribute provides a detailed history of Jackson’s countless awards and accomplishments bestowed to him as the greatest entertainer that the world has ever known. The tribute highlights his many contributions to humanitarian efforts and the numerous charities which he donated to as well as his legendary style that defined an era. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” is a book like no other, a tribute that celebrates Michael Jackson’s life, and does so for the fans that he loved and who loved him greatly in return. This is a tribute that every fan must have in their collection. It is unlike anything currently seen in stores. Another distinguishing characteristic that sets this tribute apart from others is that everything in this book is positive and uplifting, fitting for Michael Jackson’s true fans. “Michael Jackson for the Fans” is a tribute that captures the essence of Michael Jackson – the performer, the humanitarian. It was created with love and a sense of knowing what the fans would most identify with and want to see in a tribute to Michael Jackson. For innumerable people around the world, it is anything but easy to accept Michael Jackson’s passing, but knowing that his legacy of music, love and philanthropy will live forever, makes the loss somewhat
